TL;DR

Tommy makes a short, practical point that hygiene is a non-negotiable, whether or not you are in a relationship. His daily checklist is to wash your pits and parts, brush your teeth, and put on deodorant. He notes it can be hard for partners, parents, and friends to raise, and suggests keeping a stick of deodorant in the car.

Regardless of if you’re in a relationship, thinking about having a relationship, or actively avoiding a relationship, there is one concept that is a non-negotiable must-do: hygiene.

I can’t tell you how often I hear from people living around autism that hygiene is a concern for the people they care about.

I’ve simplified this list almost to the point of absurdity. Here’s a daily checklist to do every day:

  • Wash your pits and parts.
  • Brush your teeth.
  • Put on deodorant.

Yes, I really did say “daily” and “every day” in the same sentence.

A note for partners, parents, friends, companions: this can be difficult! Keep a stick of deodorant in the car.

Just in case.
