I am excited to share with you that on August 19, the Routledge International Handbook of Sex Therapy and Religion has officially released. Chris will be presenting her chapter, A Christian Perspective of Masturbation and Porn, at the official book launch at the University of Heidelberg – College of Jewish Studies on October 23–24, 2025.

The Handbook has over forty contributors representing ten different countries. This is the first book to combine clergy, religious scholars, and clinical professionals in the discussion of working with the intersection of sexual struggles and religion. The project was compiled and edited by Dr. Caleb Jacobson.

This two-day gathering will celebrate the official launch of The Routledge International Handbook of Sex Therapy and Religion. The event brings together scholars, clinicians, and faith leaders to explore the deep and complex intersections of sexuality, therapy, and religion.

The university is genuinely excited to host this gathering and Shabbat dinner and has affectionately been referring to it as “Sex Therapy Shabbos with Dr. Caleb” which includes a sex toy workshop and a BDSM/kink workshop being led by one of the book’s contributors. We are honored that the Rector of the University of Heidelberg’s College of Jewish Studies will be attending, underscoring the cultural and academic significance of this event. This event helps affirm the importance of creating space for honest, thoughtful conversations about religion and sexuality.
